Dennerle Snail Catcher Review - Catch Em All!!!!
A really REALLY cool piece of equipment I found is the Dennerle Snail Catcher. It really couldn't get easier to collect snails. Dennerle has come up with something extremely simple and extremely effective. I've been using mine now for a few years testing it with various pest snails and this thing prevails every time!
Some of the cool features are its ability to telescope from short handled to long handled. The roller rolls flawlessly on the glass with very little pressure. The collecting cup on the end of the SnailCatcher flips open for easy emptying. Whether you want to keep your snails or not, this snail catcher solves the problem of smashing them or missing the ones on the glass.
Thank...

    I never saw anything in any of my aquariums until I watched a video about these worms and now I saw something on my one aquarium. They're not linear... They just look like little tiny white specks that are moving. Is that planaria that just hasn't grown yet or is it something else if it's not linear? I got an aquarium sponge on a handle and just wiped the glass. I'm sure it didn't get rid of them. If these are not planaria do you know what they are and how to get rid of them?

    Fluval bug bites gives your tanks planaria. A short time after I purchased three different varieties and feeding them to certain tanks those tanks had outbreaks of planaria. I’m here now relaying a test I done with six twelve litre tanks with four receiving three products of fluval bug bites. Their tropical formula medium/large grain tropical formula small grain and bottom feeder formula. Those four tanks that had fluval products after three months had planaria. The other two were fed with what I was using before and nothing other than seed shrimp visible. Now I could’ve made a first time purchase of something and one if not all three items were a bad batch but I won’t be using those products again or testing to see which one. My experience and advice on fluval bug bites is don’t use it unless you’re ok with planaria. Having to get rid of them got rid of much of the other beneficial micro life which I could luckily reintroduce from other tanks through water and items sat in a healthy matured tank being moved to the the nuked tank. For eradication I used another method I use for complete annihilation in quarantine tanks and that was panacur c dog dewormer in powder form. Before that it was copper which would’nt have been able to go in anything with shrimp and fish. Panacur c can also avoid harming snails at low doses too. Partly why I use it over other products I’ve never tried for reasons such as what I’m saying right now.

    • @AquatikGuru
      @AquatikGuru Месяц назад

      Fortunately I never had this problem with bug bites. Mine were directly linked to a plant supplier. Luckily I caught it before it caused issues. In my fish only tanks that I feed TONS of big bites I never found planaria.

    • @AquatikGuru
      @AquatikGuru 2 месяца назад

      I never did add them back in that exact setup. I removed the shrimp. Quarantined them in a separate tank. Same with the snails. Quarantined the plants with planaria traps to catch any leftovers. Put most the plants in my platy tank so they’d just eat all the planaria. Removed losses as needed that were already infested with planaria. Cleaned entire tank. Replaced filters and everything else in there and re introduced all the survivors .

    • @AquatikGuru
      @AquatikGuru 3 месяца назад

      Absolutely not. The bleach will absorb into the rock and leach into the tank. Best way to clean rocks is simply with water and a scrub brush. Boiling rocks is also unnecessary. I use the garden hose or a pressure washer. Some aquarium stones like dragon stone I leave the dirt in the stone so I don’t clean those at all. I’ve learned that the most important part, is knowing where the rocks came from.

      You’re not trying to boil them for a long period of time. More like a flash boil just to kill any potentially harmful concerns with the leaves or wood such as bugs, pesticides, chemicals. It more so just takes out some risk factors for comfort that you aren’t gonna lose your fish. It doesn’t seem horrible but when you gotta rare fish or lots of fish it adds up quick and can be a devastating loss. Our goal isn’t to make a pretty tank. It’s to keep fish alive IN a pretty tank right? You can still use the tea leftover as well. Again, the boiling just kills and dilutes any possible threats from the botanicals.

      @@AquatikGurugotchu thanks for the info i recently added indian almond leaf to my tank from a brand called matchimaa to my betta tank i rinsed it pretty well before adding in know not as good as boiling for getting rid of an dangers. But its been almost 48 hours in the tank it has really even released any tannins idk how long that would take first time using them. Maybe next time ill just boil and ad some of the tea instead

      @lif3l3ssgaming sometimes it takes days or weeks for the leaves to break down enough to create the tannins. Tannins are just rotting wood, leaves, and organic matter

    Can I use any rock

      For the most part yes. But I would recommend researching specific stones before using them as some stones contain “bad” minerals for fish

    Use tungsten.

      Yea dnr requires it in my area. But they’re still labeled as lead fishing sinkers even tho they’re far from lead.

    I don't know why you think they don't use lead anymore because they most certainly do, you even stated they are magnesium and magnesium is even lighter than aluminum. You are wrong and giving bad advice, just own it and move on.

      After researching this brand they’re tungsten due to dnr regulation so 🤷 still don’t feel bad one bit.

    My new betta has a white spot in one eye that looks like he’s giving me side-eye”… Any idea what this is? Wish I could send a photo…

      It could be various things. I’d start with trying to get a very close picture and comparing on google. Just because you’d get the best side by side advice that way. Due to multiple possibilities this is the best way to look at this scenario

      You just gotta divide the math down to your specific scenario and dose properly based on measurements

    How long before putting your Carbon Filter back on after dosing?

      I personally don’t use carbon in my aquariums. I primarily use sponge filtration and water changes to keep the tank clear

    How do you clean the tank out with the grass growing ? Or do you always leave the gravel in?

    • @AquatikGuru
      @AquatikGuru 4 месяца назад

      I always leave the gravel in. I gravel vac it with a mini syphon so it doesn’t suck up grass

    Thank you for sharing, I just bought the Neo C02 DIY kit for my 29 gallon just to get some added growth but what was your experience with the C02 and snails? My beloved mystery snail is in his 10 gallon and I want to move him over to the 29 so he can have more space and be in a community tank with all nano (PEACEFUL) fish but I’m nervous to put him in the tank if there’s C02. He’s way too important to me to risk his health and I’ve read about C02 either killing snails or causing their shell to erode.

      Fortunately I only kept nerites and pest snails in my co2 tanks and didn’t have issues with them flourishing. So I firmly believe the co2 wasn’t near as potent as a direct co2 injection system.

      @@AquatikGuru Thank you so much for responding 🙏 that is good to know! Yes due to my tank size the amount of C02 going in with the CO2 diy kit I don’t believe it would cause problems for him. I’ve had it in for a week and have already noticed improvements in my rotala, s. repens, and salvinia (which definitely had no issues thriving before either 🙄 lol) so I’ll leave it running for now 👍

      @audreycooper4860 my favorite part about this setup is unless it was running low or needing a complete refill it was flawless and caused no issues. Just gave me amazing results and gorgeous tanks with little to no maintenance required after
